CYLC – Challenge #1 Details

1. Make a choice: Choose whether you’re going to go vegetarian for the chosen week (November 29- December 6, 2010) or vegan. This one is completely up to you. No one is going to judge you or think less of you or any of that nonsense. Choose the one that you are most willing to do and the one that is easiest for you to complete. There’s no need to commit yourself to something you can’t see through to the end! Once you’ve made your choice, go to step number two!

2. Get ready: Since this challenge will be affecting all of the food you are putting into your body for a week, it only makes sense that you’re going to have to do some sort of preparation. Take a look at recipes, gather tips, make grocery lists, etc. Think ahead and try to envision certain issues you may run in to (examples: you love your morning cereal, but are going vegan: what will you do about milk?; your typical lunch spot only doesn’t offer any vegan/vegetarian options: what are you going to do about lunch?). Getting the upper-hand and trying to solve your potential problems before they occur will make this challenge that much easier on you.

3. Wait it out: This challenge doesn’t officially start for almost two weeks, so you’ve got time to mentally (and physically) prepare yourself! Maybe try out some meals that you’ll eat during the challenge. There’s no sense in waiting until you’re halfway-through the Challenge week only to find out you LOATHE tofu and almond milk! Go grocery shopping for your new challenge, and make sure to set up reminders for yourself (on your cell phone, mirror, anywhere) that you can do this!

4. Nervous? Reach out: You are not alone! These challenges are comprised of lots of participants, which means you have a support system! Are you struggling after your first day? That’s okay, I’m sure we are, too. Just ask. We’ve got a twitter list, a blog, and an email address (changeyourlifechallenge@gmail.com). If you’ve got questions, tips to share with others, concerns, or anything else I failed to mention then all you’ve got to do is speak up! We are all here for each other 110%. Participating in these challenges isn’t always going to be easy or fun, but it will be a bonding experience, if you let it.

5: Just do it: When the time comes for you to start the challenge, do it! Give it all you’ve got and rock it ’till the wheels fall off (or, ya know…until the end of the week). You’ll feel so proud of yourself at the end of the week when you complete the challenge and can tell everyone you know that kicked ass in the process.

Anyone ready to join us?! Just email the CYLC account! (:
